Monaloca

In August 2002 I left the U.S. to do volunteer work in Central America. I taught ESL to Costa Rican school children for two months, then did conservation work along the Pacific Coast. In mid October, I left my volunteer life behind and traveled further south to the destinations you’ll see below.

My entire journey lasted almost a full year as I meandered up and down the continent, including two months in the middle to regroup back in California. Along the way I made many friends (and lost a few), both locals and other gringos. And, as usually happens on such journeys, I learned to look inside and around myself with different eyes.
